Saint John's Abbey is a Catholic Benedictine monastery located in Collegeville, Minnesota. It was founded in1856 by Bavarian monks. The mission of the 150 monks who live there is to seek God through a common life of prayer, study, and work. The monastery now shares its campus with both St. John's Preparatory School and with St. John's University. The unique mix of local and international students and monks creates a rich environment that seems like an oasis in the middle of a desert; it is an interesting destination that has much to offer academically, spiritually, and artistically. Amidst the cold Minnesota snow, the people of St. John's are warm, welcoming, and helpful.
